About

I find irony in convention. When I create a work that gives a sense of power when it is fragile, a sense of structure when it is weak, and a sense of solidarity when it is empty, I recreate contradictions within myself. By creating building this departure, the viewer is allowed a tangible model for deconstruction. My works are quietly anarchistic in this way. They employ the viewer to dissolve non-functional systems and trends. Instead of criticizing, I create alternative models and allow the viewer to pick up the rest. There is a level of narrative ambiguity that is suggestive without being dogmatic; therefore, private dilemmas can become metaphors for public issues.

The work gives applause to the unexpected. The sequencing of distant media and statements begins to carry its own agenda. The uncertainty of artistic output lends a hand to progression. As shifts are made in perception, the structure gives way or gives in. Subtle adjustments are created, which allow for growth. The work evokes primitive emotions such as fear, humor, and uncertainty and leaves the viewer to their own speculation.  I am reaching for that gut feeling, knowing that change is about to come, as pleasure or pain.

The work is about an ever changing perception. Ideas are not structural, they are situational; the factual only leads to confusion.

Ambiguity is a mother...
